VQS VOLCOMANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS || NEWPORT BEACH, CA USA || THURSDAY MAY 10TH – SATURDAY 12TH 2012

VQS Volcomania Championships were in full force this past weekend with the sun gleaming down upon the coast, a sure sign that Summer is finally here.

Electric was there to give out the ‘Maniac Move’ award and a $500 check for the most ripping move of the event that went to Yago Dora. Congrats to this young grom!

There was high flying action in the center of this tent city with a professional wrestling show for all the beach lurkers and shoebies.

Your choice of babes in bikinis or men in tights. YEW!

If you couldn’t make it down to the beach, there was a live webcast going on where you could catch a glimpse of Electric’s commercial for the new women’s campaign along with our very own Mark ‘Big Time’ Yonkers commentating.

ELECTRIC AND SUNRISE SURF SHOP SPEND A WEEK IN THE “ALOHA STATE” || VOLCOM PIPE HOUSE / NORTH SHORE OAHU HAWAII, USA || APRIL 29 – MAY 6TH, 2012

Electric loves to take care of their accounts.

Last week, Florida powerhouse account Sunrise Surf Shop of Jacksonville Beach spent a week in paradise on the North Shore of Oahu at the Volcom Pipe House.

The house served up an immaculate view of the ocean all day everyday, with the evening producing the magic hour of amazing sunsets.

We want to thank Tai Van Dyke, and Kai Borg from Volcom for showing us the true spirit of aloha, as well as Volcom sales rep Clint Moncata for taking the team out on an open sea adventure.

The fridge was stuffed with fresh fish all week.

Mahalo to everyone who was a part of such a great week.

ELECTRIC’S COLOR COMB RELEASE PARTY || ROOSEVELT POOL, HOLLYWOOD CA || MAY 5TH 2012

12.PM, set under a blazing Hollywood sun, the Roosevelt pool was rife with the stench of summer. The conditions were perfect to blow up the launch of Electrics’ Color Bomb Series.

This was a great opportunity to join forces with Peligroso (whose tequila was instinctively flowing like the salmon of Capistrano), Stance socks and Skullcandy who brought the DJ’s and live tunes.

Electric’s Jason Ellis, Mark Healey, Mitch Crews and Jeremy Johnston were in attendance, along with other cool cats such as Paul Fisher, James Haunt, Ryan Hippwood, Jack Freestone, Kai Otton, Dingo, and Jeremy Flores.

The legendary Steve Sherman was on hand shooting photos and displaying some of his great pieces of the past.

Electrics Canadian comrades, the “Meltdown” posse traveled south to join in the festivities all the way from Toronto, Ontario. Arriba eh!

If you weren’t able to float around on an Electric Color Bomb inner tube with a cocktail in your hand and shades on your face enjoying the gorgeous day and madness all around, you were blowing it.

But don’t worry, there’s more to come from the Electric posse. Keep your ears to the ground, your eyes wide and your hearts wild, because this train is rolling on.

VOLCOM BOWL SHOP BATTLE || TORRANCE, CA USA || THURSDAY, APRIL 26 2012

The Volcom Bowl Shop Battle is a perfect example of what happens when an unstoppable force hits an immovable object, chaos!

It’s an eclectic explosion of surfers, skaters, babes, and booze thrown into a bowling alley for one heck of a time.

Shops from San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles were invited to come show off their bowling skills and their extremely interesting taste of costumes.

Val Surf wasn’t afraid to show a little skin, wearing togas like they just walked of the set of ‘Animal House’.

Electric was there to hand out two awards: The ‘Master Kingpin’ award that went to Will from Katin for bowling the most strikes throughout the night.

The other award was the ‘Electrified’ award that went to Tamara from Spyder Surf for most mojo.

AFP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS || WHISTLER, CANADA || APRIL 25, 2012

The Future is here. Electric would like to send out a freaking HUGE congratulations to Devin Logan and Torin Yater-Wallis for there wins in the AFP World Championship’s. Devin was the Overall Woman’s World Champion stacking up points and wins every time she stepped in her skis for Pipe and Slopestyle. This is Devin’s second Overall Title in a row.

Not to be out done was Electric Phenom Torin Yater-Wallis taking the Men’s Overall Pipe World Championship. Congrats to Devin and Torin way to cap an amazing season.

PACIFIC WAVE SPRING FLING || SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA USA || SUNDAY APRIL 22, 2012

The Pacific Wave Spring Fling is a great event that keeps Pacific Wave connected with their community and allows local surfers of all ages to compete and show what they can do.

For a cold and overcast day, Electric came in HOT! Baring free custom Electric hats and giving out stickers. The weather wasn’t working with us, but the waves were good and we had live tunes.

We make the best with what we have, which is always a great time.

NATIONAL VQS SURF SERIES CHAMPS || THE WRECK IN BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA || APRIL 20-21, 2012

After an awesome country wide run of events the finalists made their way down to the Wreck at Byron Bay for the National VQS Champs.

Waves were pumping, kids were frothing and good times were had by all!

Big thanks to the boys at Volcom for putting on such a classy event for the kids.

At the event there was Pinball machines, shooting games, pac man, a hot tub! We had it all!

I made sure Electric’s presence was felt at the 2-day event with plenty of activities and games for the kids to keep them entertained and engaged.

We had soccer goal competitions, running races, hair spraying, the chocolate wheel, digging for treasure and a heap of other activities for the grubs.

Electric kicked in $500 for the Volt Throw Down Expression Session which was held at the best possible part of the day, right before the finals!

Kids we’re buckling boards, pulling into close-outs and generally going mad to get their hands on the $500 cash! Eventual winner was Jackson Coffey with a mental backside tube ride.

The event was a massive success and congratulations to Oscar Scanes and Jack Duggan who will be making their way to the US for the international finals in May!

5TH ANNUAL MATT “RASTA” GRAY MEMORIAL SURF AND SKATE CONTEST || ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA USA || APRIL 27TH – 28TH, 2012

The 5th Annual Matt “Rasta” Gray Memorial is coming up. Each year, a skate and surf contest is arranged in memory of local, Matt Gray.

The skate contest will be held at the Atlantic Beach Skate Park on Friday, April 27th at 7 p.m. and is open to all ages.

But the fun isn’t over yet, on Saturday, April 28th, don’t miss out on the surf event. The contest will take place on 19th Street in Atlantic Beach at 8 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will go toward funding next year’s contests, as well as a scholarship opportunity for students at Fletcher High School. Not only is this a great event to support, but it’s also going to be a blast. This year the contest is a 60′s and 70′s theme, so make sure to bring the feeling of Rat Town, peace and love with you!

ELECTRIC POOL BAR PARTY || POOL BAR – RINCON, PUERTO RICO || APRIL 1ST, 2012

This weekend ELECTRIC put on a MASSIVE pool party in Rincon, Puerto Rico to celebrate the end of a big Volcom VQS series event.

The party was held at the “Pool Bar” located at Pools Beach. With the help of Coors Light supplying the cold golds all night, and DJ DaNo as our entertainment both provided a recipe for one of the best nights Rincon has ever seen.

The entire evening was full of great debacle from jumping into the pool with all your cloths on, crazy dance moves, Puerto Rican hipsters, smashing beers on your for-head, broken noses, chipped teeth, running into parked cars, etc..

To say the least it was a raving good time! Thanks to Dennis and Carol from the Pool bar for giving us the best venue to crash!!

FORMULA D ROUND 1 || STREETS OF LONG BEACH, CA USA || APRIL 18TH, 2012

Electric’s tire shredder Justin Pawlak won the the first round of the Formula D season this weekend in Long Beach.

This is the second year in a row for Justin and the 5th year in a row for an Electric driver.

Justin drove his 2013 Ford Mustang hard all day and had to beat 2011 series Champion Dai Yoshihara In the final heat to get the win.

Electric being “The Official Sunglasses of Formula D” had a huge presence at the track. People were stopping by the booth all day to see our new Chris Forsberg and Vaughn Gittin Jr shades, get a photo with their favorite driver and grab some swag we were tossing out.

5TH ANNUAL SPYDER SURF FESTIVAL || HERMOSA BEACH, CA USA || SATURDAY, APRIL 7TH, 2012

It was a beautiful sunny day with clear bluebird skies, perfect weather down at Hermosa pier for Spyder’s 5th annual Surf Festival.

People all of all ages swarmed the pier to check out the live music, get some free gear, and have a good time.

Electric was front row corner pocket spray painting up custom tote bags and handing out stickers while everyone was rocking out to live music from local bands.

Everyone was in high spirits, letting us spray the volt on their surfboards and even on them .

In between all of the great music, the girls over at Spyder threw an awesome fashion show of all their new swimsuits and summer soft goods.

The day ended with Surf Walk of Fame inductee Mark Levy’s band, the ‘Bixby Dicks’ who was the last band to go on, but stole the show playing some classic covers like Tom Petty. Another awesome festival put on by Spyder, something you won’t want to miss next year.

VOID MAGAZINE ISSUE 18 RELEASE PARTY || LEMON BAR – ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA USA || APRIL 5TH 2012

On Thursday April 5th, ELECTRIC teamed up with Void Magazine, to throw a Luau at the Lemon Bar in Atlantic Beach, Florida.

The party was overlooking the ocean, which served up some fun waves the whole day.

As the sun set a high energy local band “The Fuzz” kicked off the live music.

The drinks were flowing, as dance moves were being busted out all over the place.

The night ended with the beautiful sounds of “Pele’s Ukulele Wahines”. The Ukulele band really brought the “Aloha” vibe to the party.

Thanks to everyone who came out and partied with us.

ELECTRIC SPRING BREAK AT RON JON SURF SHOP || RON JON SURF SHOP, COCO BEACH, FLORIDA USA || FRIDAY MARCH 30TH, 2012

All afternoon on Friday, March 30th ELECTRIC teamed up with Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach Florida to show Spring breakers from all over the country how ELECTRIC “gets down”.

The ELECTRIC case inside was filled to the brim with the new line of 2012 shades.

Outside the shop there was free pizza, music, games, and drinks and everyone was smiling and happy.

Big thanks to all who came to the event and enjoyed the beautiful day with us. Look for more events in Florida from ELECTRIC in the near future.

CHASE YOUR WHITE WHALE – THE CAPT AHAB RELEASE PARTY || DANA POINT, CA || MARCH 29TH 2012

In true Electric fashion, what better way to throw a release party for Mark Healey’s new signature sunglass, the CAPT AHAB, than on the Dana Pride.

The boat rocked and swayed out to sea as the waves and wind whipped towards the shoreline.

Rolling grey clouds loomed out towards the horizon, but there was no need for sunshine to liven up the party.

Sixty retailers from LA, Orange County, and San Diego danced to the motion of radiant tunes by DJ Sli Dawg and Stiso.

Each sailor received a custom CAPT AHAB t-shirt and a pair of CAPT AHAB polarized level II shades and a pair of the Venice for the ladies.

Young Matt Skakin from Laguna Surf and Sport and Alyssa O’Brien from Sun Diego, were the happy winners of signed framed Healey posters, and JJ Allen from Surfside Sports was the unexpected birthday winner of a Riffe spear gun. Congrats to these lucky winners!

This two hour tour was filled with beer stained laughter and cocktail conversations.

It was framed by Surfer Magazine, who captured a gleaming sunset that winked at the happy faces as the boat turned and headed back to shore.

With the night still young and the sun finally settling beyond the skyline, the party spilled into the salty nautical bar Turk’s, roaring into the dark sky for the rest of the world to hear.

A picturesque way to launch a quality sunglass for a quality man, now available around the globe. Chase YOUR white whale!

ELECTRIC SPRING KICKOFF PARTY || SATELLITE BAR & LOUNGE, DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA USA || MARCH 24TH 2012

This past weekend ELECTRIC had our annual Spring Kickoff Party held in beautiful downtown Wilmington, NC at  the award winning Satellite Bar & Lounge.

The Venue, along with the presence of all accounts, friends, and family created one of the best Events that Wilmington has seen in a long time! BIG thanks to Surf City, Sweetwater, Aussie Island, Hot Wax, Green Room, and Side Arm Surf Shops for coming out and hanging with us throughout this amazing evening!

The line up for the night included “The Meanwhiles” hailing from Nashville Tennessee, and “Deep Chatham” from our very own North Carolina. These guys absolutely rocked the house with warm sounds, lyrics from the south, and a hyped bluegrass vibe to keep everyone moving all night long.

Thanks to Satellite and the whole ELECTRIC Crew for all the help and good times. Can’t wait until the next year. Until then… Yewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
